Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Avondale Park School and our school website.

Avondale Park School is a large primary school serving a multi-ethnic community in the heart of North Kensington and since September 2014 we have been federated with St Anne’s Nursery School. Please click here for federation home page.

At Avondale Park School we have two classes in each year group, with about 25 children per class. There are 26 teaching staff including the Head and Deputy Headteacher and 41 non teaching staff. We pride ourselves as teachers on aiming continually to develop and improve our teaching in order to make learning accessible and exciting for all pupils.

We are fortunate to have lots of space with excellent facilities, including 2 computer suites, interactive whiteboards in each classroom, two sports halls, and developing playgrounds.

We are an inclusive school encouraging the academic, social and personal development of every child in a welcoming and secure environment. Visitors are always struck by the friendly but hardworking atmosphere created by staff and pupils and indeed, Ofsted commented on this.

SUMMER FAIR
Our Summer Fair is on Friday 8th July and as usual we ask that you start thinking of your contributions. To ‘kick start’ our tombola, children may wear their own clothes next Friday, 1st July in return for bringing a bottle, an unwanted gift, or sweets, for the Tombola. Thank you for your support..

TEACHING AND LEARNING REVIEW
We have invited the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea School Improvement Service to work with us to conduct a ‘Teaching and Learning Review’ across the school. This involved two Lead Advisors observing in classes with our Leadership Team over two visits to look at the teaching , learning and progress in all Key Stages. We are delighted that the two advisors verified our judgements that teaching and learning is very good and the progress that children are making across the school is impressive. Well done to all children and staff!

CHANGE OF DATE OF AGM
We sent a letter to explain that the date of the AGM has been changed from Wednesday 6th July to Tuesday 5th July at 3.15pm. However, we have heard today that members of the NUT teaching union will be taking industrial action on that day. I will therefore let parents know as soon as possible how this will affect our school and this meeting.

CONGRATULATIONS
I was impressed by Clare’s Year 3 Classes clever assembly this week, which incorporated all their learning on fairy tales. There was such a lot to learn and yet they all spoke with great confidence and obvious enjoyment of their unit of work. Well done to you all.
SAFETY ON SIRDAR ROAD
We encourage families to walk or take public transport to school. If you do have to travel by car, may I remind parents to park safely and not stop at all on the zig zags. This makes it safer for everyone.
